On the Use of Gridded Data Products for Trend Assessment and Aridity Classification in a Mediterranean Context: The Case of the Apulia Region

Large-scale gridded climatic data can be useful for the assessment of climate variability and change as a basis understanding monitoring natural hazards, well determining appropriate coping strategies. However, an evaluation accuracy these products against local observational measurements over different regions globe is always required, large-scale may affected by systematic errors, which affect results downstream applications. Therefore, this study was carried out to evaluate performances two long-term datasets in reproducing station-based precipitation temperature Apulia region (southern Italy) period 1956–2019, with particular focus on effect using sources trend analyses aridity classification. The revealed that considered allow only general indications spatial temporal behavior variables region, especially regard data.
